Tour and Reception on August 18th

Workman's Cottage

The evolution of a small workman’s cottage from the late 19th century has unfolded with ever-changing additions and modifications to become a very comfortable 21st century home that reveals the many layers of its history. Yet, from the street, its Victorian architecture remains intact.

Guided tours of the house on 16th Street in Santa Monica will give you an intimate view of its history, evolution, and sensitive expansion. Discover how the owners, Hilda Weiss and Wayne Lindberg, collaborating with restoration architect Michele McDonough, made design decisions that balance respect for the original architecture with contemporary livability.

The garden, designed by FormLA, combines ease of care in the front with drought-tolerant plants, a side garden with vegetables, herbs and fruit trees and a back garden with a water feature.

A wine and cheese reception will be held in the beautiful garden. The owners, architect, and landscape architect will be present to mingle with guests.

“Rebirth of a Workman’s Cottage” takes place Sunday, August 18th, from 3 – 5 PM. Tickets for members: $25; nonmembers, $30.  Click here today to purchase your tickets online or to print out a form to be mailed with your check by Monday, August 12.  Space is very limited, so don’t wait too long!
