Chef George Geary, author of L.A.’s Legendary Restaurants, presents an illustrated talk on the Golden Era of Hollywood restaurants and favorite dishes of the stars. A book sale and signing follows.
“Geary is a chef and cookbook author who prepared all the cheesecakes used on the Golden Girls. In his book, Geary traces the history of mostly bygone eateries, bars, night clubs and drugstores from the Golden Age of Hollywood and greater L.A., as well as a few establishments that have managed to stay open. He includes not only original menus and historical photos of celebrities – Marilyn Monroe at Ciro’s, Desi and Lucy at the Brown Derby, Walt Disney at Tam O’Shanter – but also more than 100 recipes that made these restaurants distinct.” -LA Weekly
The event is free and open to the public. More information about the library’s Santa Monica Eats! series can be found here.
