Workshop #3: Bringing It All Together

The third and final community workshop will be an opportunity for the Civic Working Group and community to bring together all information, ideas, and findings from the visioning process to-date in preparation for the Working Group’s report to the City Council this fall. The landmark Santa Monica Civic Auditorium opened in 1958 as a public gathering place for cultural, educational, and community events. The Civic Auditorium closed to the public in June 2013, due to the lack of funding to upgrade the facility to make it both safe and functional. Now, the City is developing a new vision: a re-purposed Civic Auditorium as the anchor for a mixed-use arts and cultural district. The City Council-appointed Civic Working Group is leading the visioning process.
