The Santa Monica Public Library is proud to present Janice Lyle on Sunnylands. Janice Lyle, the Director of Sunnylands, the Annenberg estate in Rancho Mirage, discusses her new book, Sunnylands: America’s Midcentury Masterpiece.

The fabled estate, once the place to be for celebrities, politicians, and corporate big-wigs looking to meet, relax, or wheel and deal, transformed from a private winter home to a high level retreat center and museum space. An undisputed masterpiece, its immaculate preservation and midcentury design are sure to delight fans of architecture and interior design alike.

Prior to joining The Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, Lyle was the Executive Director of the Palms Springs Art Museum for 13 years and Director of Public Programs for 10 years. She has a PhD in art history from the University of California, Santa Barbara. This event is part of our Authors on Architecture series and is co-sponsored by the Society of Architectural Historians/Southern California Chapter (SAH/SCC). A book sale and signing follows the program.

This program is free and open to all ages. Seating is limited and on a first arrival basis. The Santa Monica Public Library is wheelchair accessible. The Main Library is directly served by Big Blue Bus lines 1, R10, and 18. The Expo Line and other bus routes stop nearby. Ride your bike. Bicycle parking racks are available at the library.
